Our History
From the Chama Valley to the Southwest, it all started with one agent and a vision.
After moving to the Chama Valley from Oklahoma, Ron Alcorn founded the agency that bears his name in 1989. He brought with him deep industry experience as a former co-owner—with his father—of the largest State Farm office in the Southwest Region. At the time, Ron was the youngest agent ever appointed by State Farm.
In 1997, Ron’s wife Pam joined the agency, bringing her commitment to community and local service. Over the years, both have remained deeply involved in the community they serve—Pam as the current president of the Chama Valley Rotary Club and a member of the Metropolitan Executive and Professional Committee, and Ron as a retired volunteer with the Brazos Canyon Fire Department. Their shared belief in doing right by their neighbors continues to guide the agency today.
Alcorn Insurance was founded on one simple idea: take good care of your neighbors. From our earliest days, we’ve helped families, farmers, and business owners across New Mexico and Colorado find coverage that fits—not just in price, but in purpose. Over the years, we’ve expanded into Arizona and Texas, but we’ve never lost the local perspective that defines our approach.
We are proud members of the Chama Valley Rotary Club, the Strategic Independent Agents Alliance (SIAA), and Trusted Choice®. More importantly, we’re still answering our own phones, listening closely to our clients, and offering personal service that you won’t find from a 1-800 number. Because for us, this isn’t just a business—it’s a responsibility we’re proud to carry.
